Cathy Day, a Heritage Consultant, is analysing the value of the Denmark Historical Society’s collections for their aesthetic or artistic value, scientific or research potential, and social or spiritual significance. A collection item can help to explain why, how, where and what meaning it has to a place, person or event. Some items may be rare, have important historical links to Denmark and have important interpretive value.
The assessment process is done in consultation with Volunteer staff and can build knowledge about items from many sources within the collection. The assessment can also be of value when used in tandem with the Society’s Collections Policy.
